Megah Rise Mall and Alzheimer's Disease Foundation Malaysia launched the Forget Me Not Project on 4 September 2026, then ran World Alzheimer's Month programmes through the weekend at the Taman Megah mall. Oriental Daily covered the launch. FMT had already flagged the three-day public programme, talks, screenings, and caregiver sessions. Admission was free. What ran on 4 to 6 September
FMT listed the public programme as Friday to Sunday, 4 to 6 September, 11am to 5pm. Oriental Daily's launch story tightened the atrium schedule to 5 and 6 September, 11am to 5pm, on Level 3, with sharing sessions, performances, music therapy, caregiver meet-ups, cognitive assessments, and health booths. Selangor Health Department staff offered basic checks and free influenza vaccinations for eligible adults aged 60 and above. If those two write-ups disagree on whether Friday was a full atrium day, trust the later Oriental Daily note for Saturday and Sunday, and treat Friday as the launch plus mall-floor activity.
Oriental Daily also logged a Memory Walk at 10.30am on 5 September. Last year's walk at the same mall marked the ADFM Community Centre opening. FMT reused that 2025 walk photo in its 2026 preview. The walk is a short solidarity loop, not a race. Wear comfortable shoes. The mall air-conditioning is the point for anyone who cannot manage heat or haze.
The centre on the ground floor is the lasting piece
The ADFM Community Centre opened on the ground floor of Megah Rise Mall on 4 September 2025. PPB Properties, the mall owner, partnered with ADFM. PPB's own recap called it the first centre of its kind in Malaysia and one of the few dementia support spaces inside a shopping mall anywhere. That is why this September programme sits here instead of a hotel ballroom. Families already know the escalators. The centre is meant as a drop-in for people living with dementia, caregivers, and anyone trying to tell ordinary forgetfulness from something that needs a doctor.
ADFM dates to 1997. It runs education, caregiver support, respite, and staged care. Helpline: 03-7931 5850. The foundation's site and Instagram are the booking channels for workshops after the atrium comes down. Do not treat a three-day mall activation as a clinic. Screening booths are a first look. Follow-up belongs with a GP or a memory clinic.
Forget Me Not is a mall operations plan, not a slogan
Oriental Daily described the Forget Me Not Project as a staged effort to make Megah Rise easier for people with dementia: dementia-friendly kits for frontline staff, basic care training, and public education. Tan Sri Hasmah Abdullah, ADFM executive committee chair, called the launch a milestone with PPB Properties. Alzheimer's Disease International's acting CEO, Chris Lynch, appeared by video and cited a 2030 global estimate of 78 million people living with dementia. Guests included Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor CEO Gan Pei Nei and PPB Group sustainability lead Lee Mei Feng.
A later World Alzheimer's Month stop is listed for Cheras LeisureMall on 26 to 27 September, 11am to 5pm. That mall is not in Petaling Jaya. If you live in Taman Megah, the local piece is the community centre you can still walk into after this weekend. Taman Bahagia LRT on the Kelana Jaya Line is the usual approach. The mall is a short walk or Grab from SS2 if you are already eating there.
